General Description

History | The Preschool Education Division was founded in the Elementary Education Department at the Ordu University Faculty of Education in the academic year of 2013-2014. The program consists of field courses, general culture courses, teacher educational courses and practicum. The language of instruction is Turkish and education period is 4 years. The courses are carried out both theoretically and practically. | Qualification Awarded | The Bachelor's Degree in Preschool Education is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses. | Level of Qualification | First Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | General admission requirements stated under Info on the Institution on this website are being applied to start this programme. | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | The rules and regulations for recognition of prior learning are defined by Higher Education Council. Students can change their institution when they meet the necessary criteria. Students also can transfer their prior credits after the approval of the division. | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00. | Profile of The Programme | The aim of preschool education programme is to educate the prospective preschool teachers with the knowledge of early childhood education and teaching skills. Besides, they are expected to be able to put their theoritical knowledge into practice and have the skills of improve themselves and being a role model for their students.
| Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | The graduates of the programme can work as a teacher, administrator or supervisor in the area of preschool education. | Access to Further Studies | Students have opportunities to have graduate level of study providing necessary conditions. | Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | There are one midterm and one final exam in every term for each lesson. Each exam’s contribution of succeed point is the weighted average of midterm exam (%40) and final exam (%60). Top point for every exam is 100. The evaluation is implemented based on the principles set forth in Article 24 of Ordu University Statute of Instruction and Examination. Grading principles for courses with special evaluation are announced by faculty member(s) to the students and the department in the beginning of the semester. Article 24. 100 is the full point in the assessment of exams. The relative weights of midterm examinations and final examination are submitted to the Registrar's Office. Based on grades and associated weights, final points are determined by the course instructor.
Students who have AA, BA, BB, CB, CC letter marks are counted as successful. DD letter marks is conditioned successful mark. Students who have the mark must have at least 2.00 grade point average to succeed the education process.
As featured in the table below, considering the average and statistical distribution of the final points and general class performance, final grades are given.
The criteria for degree classification are:

A student who holds either of the grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) is considered successful in that course. Furthermore, a student with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher for a semester is also considered successful in a course in that semester. Grades below CC (i.e. F3, F4, DD, FD and FF) are considered to be unsuccessful. The grade M is granted for courses that a transfer student has taken earlier and the course's equivalency with the programme is approved by the Faculty Executive Board upon the request of the department.

Successfully completed all the courses available in the program and at least 2.00 on a 4.00 grade point average for students who obtain a bachelor's degree in the field of Preschool teacher is given. Students who graduate from this department competent to perform all over the country will have a teacher. |
