General Description
History
The program, which was established in 2017, started accepting students as of Fall semester of 2017-2018 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Those who have successfully completed the master's program in Art History Department will have the degree of Art History (Art History Science Specialist) in the field of Art History.

Being graduated from the Art History program, which provides education in Science-Literature, Literature or Humanities Faculties.

Profile of The Programme
Art history is the social-scientific discipline that investigates the civilastion products which date even back the start of the human civilisations in general meaning by means of era, religion, history, sociological and mythologic facts, in particular with respect to the historical eras, systematically. Our department has a mission to investigate these cultural data within three main socio-scientific divisions. By this way, our deartment has a further mission as to transfer the facts of these civilation products to our students using educational tools. Moreover, briefing our public who are interested in our area of concern is also among the missions of our department. In addition, investigating, learning and teaching the unknown topics and cultures is not only a academical study but also an educational activity of our department. Our department makes the point of organising many exhibtions, panels, conferences, seminars, congresses and symposiums as important missions to approach the visual audial views of aspects from a positive route and to transfer this knowledge to the next generations. The aim of the department is to reach all targets about positive and healthy development of the society, improving the aspect of art and taking pleasure of art either by educational tools or by visual elements. Distinguished academicians who are specialists of their area of interests (professors, associate professors and assistant professors) constitute our academical staff. Academicial studies are simultaneously performed with educational activities, like lectures, cultural trips, etc. The very basic research areas of our department are Byzantine, European and modern arts together with all aspects of Turkish – Islamic arts. It is seriously taken into consideration to give positions for high level academicians from a wide range area of interest as possible. It is mainly targeted to certificate our graduates to be well-equipped so that they can easily pass all possible proficiency examinations and get positions in both special companies and government institutions like teaching institutes, municipalities and city administration offices, all departments of Cultural Ministry and, Foundations (Vakıflar) General Directory, etc
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Those who provide sufficient conditions in the Department of Art History, Research Assistant, Lecturer and Instructor can be candidates for the staff. In addition, they may be able to become museum assistants and reporters in museums and conservation councils affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of T. C., and have the opportunity of employment in local administrations (KUDEP) and governorships (YICOP).
Access to Further Studies
They can continue their Ph.D. education in Art History Department.

Assignments, seminars and written examination. Midterm exam: 40%, Final Exam: 60%

Facilities
Education and training activities are carried out in three disciplines in the Department of Art History. There are 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 2 Assistant Professors.

1To instruct about the artistic products of Great Seljukian, Anatolian Seljukian, Beylics and Ottoaman eras
2To instruct about modern arts.
3To constitute the professionality and ethic responsibility awareness
4To instruct about products and sources of Pre-Islam Turkish art.
5To instruct knowing, learning and teaching capabilities of cultural heritage of Islamic era Turkish art.
6To instruct the capability of detecting the changed styles of European architecture, painting and sculpture during Middle Age and New Age
7To gain the capabilities of literature survey and catalogue arraangements in order to carry out scientific studies
8 To instruct about basic Art History topics such as architecture, ceramics, carpets-rugs, wovens, miniature, calligraphy, tile, metal works, painting, engrawing, sculpture and coinage
9To gain the capabilities of documentation, restitution and restoration applications; architectural plan, profile and section drawing within art history science perspective
10To evaluate the data obtained from the scientific excavations
11In site studies, arranging a working system according to topography
12Gaining the ability to establish social and cultural relations
13To instruct the capability of presenting the appearence of the ıslamic art and its impressed are in chronological frame.
14To gain capabilities of making iconographic evaluation and interpretation
15Organizing interdisciplinary teams and management of the team in technical and logistic sense
16To gain the capabilities of making detections and necessary applications in urban, historical and archeological protected areas
