| The course aims to provide to the students a general knowledge on monetary theory and policy. Especially monetary policy goals, instruments, and actions, monetary policy strategies, monetary policy in Turkey, monetary transmission mechanisms, monetary crises comprise the main framework of the course. |

| Monetary policy: The general structure of monetary policy: Goals and tools of monetary policy; Required reserve ratio, discount policy, open market operations, interest rate, selective credit control and moral suasion. Monetary policy Strategies: The role nominal anchor; exchange-rate targeting; monetary targeting; inflation targeting; monetary policy applications in Turkey. Monetary and fiscal policies: real and monetary sectors analysis with IS-LM curves, the factors which cause IS-LM curves to shift; monetary transmission mechanisms, monetary crises. |
