Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine the beginnings and the development of English poetry as well as the important poetry forms and terms through the works of the authors starting with Old English period up until Neoclassical Era. In addition, it is aimed to examine the works from cultural, social, literary and psychological aspects throughout the course and provide necessary backgrounds to the students.

Learning Outcomes

1	At the end of the course, students will be able to define the basic features of the periods.
2	At the end of the course, students will be able to define the characteristics of Old English, Middle English, Renaissance, Restoration and Neoclassical period English poetry.
3	At the end of the course, students will have knowledge about important literary figures and works of the periods mentioned in English poetry.
