Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course, which is among the field courses of the Department of Classroom Education, is to enable prospective teachers in the field of Classroom Education to construct the information about the theoretical context of primary reading and writing teaching, and to apply the knowledge they can structure at a skill level in teaching reading and writing to seventy-two-month-old primary school first grade students. to enable them to.

1Comprehends the purpose, scope, content of the Primary Reading and Writing Teaching course and its relationship with other special and general teaching fields.
2It determines the place of the developmental characteristics of the first reading and writing age child in the first reading and writing activities.
3Plans the first reading and writing activities in the context of learning outcomes, content, teaching-learning process, measurement and evaluation elements in primary school programs.
4Implements the planned first reading and writing activities.

Course Contents
Reading and its importance, listening, speaking, visual reading and visual presentation; reading, writing learning areas and the relationship between them, the characteristics of Turkish and its effect on teaching first reading and writing; reading and writing teaching approaches, the aims and principles of teaching first reading and writing, the basic characteristics of first grade teachers and students in terms of teaching first reading and writing; readiness (student) and preparation (teacher) for first reading and writing, failure and reasons for failure in teaching first reading and writing, tools and materials used in teaching first reading and writing (characteristics, selection, creation and use of tools); methods applied in teaching first reading and writing (definitions, characteristics, classification, applications, advantages and limitations of methods); sound-based sentence method (definition, principles, characteristics, stages and application), reading and writing teaching applications in line with the stages of sound-based sentence method, development of vocabulary, evaluation of first reading and writing, first reading and writing teaching and use of technology.
