Objectives of the Course
The aim of the Public Health internship is to ensure that Term VI students acquire information about the country's health status, health needs and health system within the scope of teaching the basic principles, concepts and practices of public health, and to gain knowledge and skills about the duties of the physician in the management of health services, especially primary care. To ensure that students understand primary healthcare services and the primary healthcare organization in our country by providing information about epidemiology, preventive medicine and the functioning of primary healthcare services and legal regulations, getting to know the society, keeping records, research planning, data collection, statistical analysis, writing reports, making presentations. To develop their skills, to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to manage a community health center (CHC), to understand the reasons that negatively affect public health, to evaluate health-related biological, psychological and social events together, to examine and monitor the patient with his/her environment, to understand health problems and solutions. To gain the knowledge and skills to use epidemiological methods and to acquire public health approaches and skills in detecting and solving health problems that are important for public health.

Learning Outcomes
1Knows the public health perspective and basic public health principles.
2Knows the legal legislation regarding the health services provided in Turkey, can explain the delivery model of health services in Turkey and the duties, powers and responsibilities of the personnel working in the services.
3Knows epidemiological research methods and can interpret epidemiological data.
4Knows and can calculate health level criteria.
5Knows the principles regarding the prevention and control of communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases.
6Understands the effects of environmental factors on health and knows the strategies for managing these factors.
7Knows the basic concepts of health economics and can explain the relationship between health and economy.
8Identifies common nutritional problems in society and the effects of these problems on health, and learns preventive strategies.
9Knows and applies basic concepts related to public health issues such as maternal and child health, elderly health, disabled health, community mental health, school health, disaster management, health sociology, principles to improve public health and public health education.
