Academic Cooperation Protocols
International and European cooperation plays an important role in the strategic development of Ege University. International activities at Ege University are centrally coordinated and are focused on quality rather than quantity.
In accordance with its mission of becoming an international university, Ege University has entered into 73 academic cooperation protocols with many foreign institutions all over the world to promote the enrichment of teaching and research programs.
LLP/Erasmus Program
In December 2002, European Commission signed a series of agreements with the Turkish authorities to finance a cycle of preparatory measures and pilot actions to prepare Turkey’s participation in Socrates Program. Ege University had been selected as a pilot university and was among one of the 15 Turkish universities for the preparatory measures and pilot actions of Socrates Program by the Turkish National Agency. Turkey’s first Erasmus students were sent to Portugal-Porto University by Ege University.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishing Turkey’s full participation in EU Education Programs was signed by the European Commission and the Turkish authorities in April 2004. Ege University as one of the Turkish universities awarded by EUC (Erasmus University Charter) took part in SOCRATES/ERASMUS Program in 2004-2005 academic year.
Ege University has ranked the first in number of student and teaching staff mobility in 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 academic years among Turkish universities. It has developed 380 bilateral agreements with 269 European universities in 23 European Union member states within the scope of Erasmus Program for 2011-2012 academic year. (

Ege University upholds its commitment to coordinate and implement European Union’s “Life Long Learning (LLP) “ and “ Youth “ Programs. Ege University has been awarded by Erasmus University Charter and takes part in Life Long Learning –LLP and Youth Programs between 2007-2013.
The mobility of students is the University’s most intensive European activity. Studying and working abroad are considered a valuable opportunity to strengthen the European perspective in student’s professional development.
Ege University participates in LLP not only in mobility activities but also in intensive programs, multilateral and thematic network projects.
International Office is responsible for the coordination of the mobility process within the scope of Erasmus Program. It takes care of all of the administrative and registration procedures regarding the preparation and support for the incoming and outgoing students and teaching staff. It offers orientation programs prior to the beginning of academic programs. The full integration and participation of incoming students is ensured in all social, cultural and sports activities of the university in addition to activities specially organized for them.
Double Degree Programs
Ege University puts a lot of emphasis on the development of joint curricula and double degree programs.
Ege University and State University of New York (SUNY) carries out 2 dual diploma programs (Computer Sciences and Engineering, Global Politics and International Relations).
Ege University and Berlin School of Economics (Germany) at Bachelor level carries out a dual diploma program. New programs with several European universities are under negotiation.
Ege University and FH Giessen-Friedberg (Germany) at Master's level carries out a dual diploma program.
Ege University and Cartegena Technical University (Spain) at Master's level will carry out a dual diploma program in 2011-2012 academic year.
