General Description

History | The program, which was established in 2020, has started to accept students since the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. | Qualification Awarded | Those who successfully complete the PhD program of the Department of Art History will have the Art History (Art History Science Specialist) degree in the field of Art History. | Level of Qualification | Third Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | Students who will apply to the program must graduate from the Art History departments of the relevant faculties. Students will be admitted to the Department of Art History in accordance with the Ordu University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations published in the Official Gazette dated 23 August 2007 and numbered 26622. | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | It is determined by the board of department | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | To be successful in classes, to do seminars and thesis work | Profile of The Programme | Art history is a social-scientific discipline that systematically examines the products of civilization, which extends to the beginning of human civilizations in general, through period, religion, history, sociological and mythological phenomena, especially in historical periods. . Our department has a mission to examine these cultural data in three main socio-scientific departments. In this way, we have another mission to convey the realities of these civilization products to our students with educational tools. It is also among the duties of our department to inform the people who are interested in the field we are interested in. In addition, researching, learning and teaching unknown subjects and cultures is not only an academic study, but also an educational activity of our department. Our department considers organizing many exhibitions, panels, conferences, seminars, congresses and symposiums as important missions.
The aim of the department is to reach all goals related to positive and healthy development of the society, improvement of the direction of art and enjoyment of art, both with educational tools and visual elements. Our academic staff consists of distinguished academicians who are experts in their fields of interest (professors, associate professors and assistant professors). Academic studies, lectures, cultural trips etc. carried out simultaneously with educational activities. The main research areas of our department are Byzantine, European and modern arts with all aspects of Turkish-Islamic arts. Positioning senior academics from as broad a range of interests as possible is taken seriously. It is mainly aimed that our graduates certify that they are equipped to easily pass all possible proficiency exams and take positions in both private companies and government institutions such as teaching institutes, municipalities and city administrations, all departments of the Ministry of Culture.
