General Description
History
Department of Economics that is committed to Ordu University Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Faculty has been active since 1997 in both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Qualification Awarded
The students who are graduated from Department of Economics, Ordu University Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Faculty, are eligible to acquire bachelor’s degree of economics.

Specific Admission Requirements
The placement process of Department of Economics, Ordu University Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Faculty, within the framework of the quota set by Ordu University is carried out through Student Selection and Placement Center (SSPC).
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
In order to recognition of the previous educational background and the previous courses taken in undergraduate and/or associate degree programs by Department of Economics, Ordu University Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Faculty, the availability and competence of the course contents need to be documented and they need to be examined and accepted by the Faculty Board.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The students have to complete all coursework successfully, their GPA has to be at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and a minimum 240 ECTS credits have to be provided.
Profile of The Programme
This program educates the economists who will work to make research and application of the various stages of the economic life. There are four main departments, Economic Theory, Economic Development and International Economics, Economic History and Economic Policy, in Department of Economics, Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and five Assist. Prof. Dr., a University Lecturer and a Research Assistant have been continuing the education activities of the students of the mentioned departments in the main four departments. The economics education covers the two basic processes in Department of Economics in Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Firstly, teaching the economic principles and tools that will be used in the life after the graduation and therefore educating the high-quality workforce for the economic agents who are trying to be successful in the face of rapidly changing global conditions. Secondly, developing the ability of systematic and independent thinking that may be useful in all areas of human life and giving the scientific discipline to the students in economic matters. In this context, the courses of business, finance and law as well as economics have been given to the graduates to be able to staff in wide range of economic life in the Department of Economics. English education and use of English resources have an important place in the program. The students of the Department of Economics have to successfully complete their main and compulsory subjects in the first two education year of the university life and then it is aimed to enhance their practical skills to work they planned after graduation via giving them the various electical courses as from third class of the university life.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Economics graduates have important employment opportunities in the wide variety of public and private sector. They can take examinations such as inspector, auditor and expert assistant held by various ministries and they can be employed in public and private sector banks, enterprises and research institutions.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates who get the required examination mark in the exams held by Higher Education Council (HEC) and who have the optimum conditions determined by HEC may apply to master and doctoral programs in the majority of social sciences.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Staff members may use various evaluation methods including exams, projects and presentations. Success in the course is measured using the grades below. Score, mark, coefficient and degree are as follow, respectively: 92 -100, AA, 4.00, excellent; 84-91, BA, 3.50, excellent; 76 – 83, BB, 3.00, good; 68 - 75, CB, 2.50, good; 60 – 67, CC, 2.00, mid; 50 - 59, DC, 1.50, mid; 40 - 49, DD, 1.00, failed; 30 – 39, FD, 0.50, failed; 0 – 29, FF, 0.00, failed. In the courses performing periodically, a mid-term and a final exam is held. The grade of a student is determined using the summation 40% of mid-term exam and 60% of final exam.
Graduation Requirements
The students need to be successful in all subjects in the program, they have to get a minimun 240 ECTS credits, their GPA need to be at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and none of the grades need to be F.

Facilities
Department of Economics benefits from the opportunities of Unye Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The faculty consists of administration building, social facilities including conference hall, kitchen, cafeteria and canteen, and the service building where classrooms and offices of staff members in it. The conference hall, a capacity of 250 persons, is respond to any event. There are 14 classrooms, a computer lab, a library and a reading room in the classroom building. Campus is located at the edge of the seaside and the state coast roadand there are also amphitheater, volleyball and basketball courts and seating areas. The faculty is five km far away from Unye and the direction of transport activities to Ordu and Samsun operates steadily. Besides, there are also a variety of clubs in the university. The students can join them in accordance with their interest.
