Our school is opened depending on Ministry of National Education with Construction and Electric Programs in 1976-1977 educational year. It is transfered to Karadeniz Technical University in 1982-1983 academic year. The second instruction of Construction, Elektric and Mechanical Design Programs are opened in 2001-2002 educational year. In 2002-2003 educational as the second teaching, education on Traditional Crafts subordinate to Handcrafts has started. The first teaching of Traditional Crafts of The Ordu University is opened in 2009 academic year. 50 students are admitted at Traditional Crafts Program. |

If the students who come from other higher-education university in domestic or abroad apply within a week, It is decreed their credit and note transfer requests, related learning unit is evaluated by the board of directors, as covering all learning and only once. |

Profile of The Programme |
Especially in Crafts, there is a need for qualified workforce to perform repeat, transferring and protection values in our country which has (having) various values in various scopes. The protection of National wealths which exist in our country, and the proliferation of those by reproducing are important. In restorations carried out architect work, such as stenciled, tiles, ceramic, stucco work, the trained workforce is needed. In scopes such as illumination, miniaturei ebru, tile, stained glass, embroiders, weaving, and pattern design, fort he survival of our traditional crafts, researcher, designer, talented, theoretically and technically intelligent person and qualified person learning the application ability, and also transferring the information produced at today’s technology are aimed to be grown. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
Students who graduated from traditional crafts can be employed as master trainers are educator in Public Education, Social Services, Culturel Centers, Rehabilitation Centres, or relevant Public and private enterprises according to their ability. They can work in tile, embroidery, knitting, weaving workshops and in establishment which make giftware and as designer in home textiles and also in ornament or hand decoration units. Besides, they can open own their workplaces. Moreover, they can be employed in tile, stenciled, gold leat related restoration or in the national palace, the foundation in private firms. |
Access to Further Studies |
According to results of vertical pass exam (DGS) of students: they can apply to the fower, the knitting, the weaving, the decorative arts teacher and the carpet, the rug, the old fabric patterns, the Traditional Turkish Hand Crafts departments. They may also register direct to the Economics and Business Departments of Distance Education Faculty. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
According to Professional practica based lesson: notes is given with through applications or written examination. According to 4 credit system, evaluation is carried out. Midterm exam assessment: 40% of the midterm exam is taken, determining with projects, schoolworks and applications. Intro-year pass not is determined by taking 60% of final exam. |

In the four semester, a total of 120 ECTS course load must be complated with success by students graduation in Traditional Crafts Program. |

Facilities |
Department of Crafts has got 4 instructor with staffed expert. 50 students are admitted at Traditional Crafts Program. Now, the first and second teaching of this program is active. Our department has classroom, computer laboratories and 50 person capacity Hand Crafts practice lab where is all of the workshops can be made. Also, There are opportunities for canteen, the tea garden and refectory. |
