General Description

History | Programme of master with thesis of Nursing Departments of Institutes of Health Sciences of Ordu University (ODU) and Karadeniz Tecnical University (KTU) is instituted upon the authorization of the Council of Higher Education at Fall semester 2014-2015 Academic year. There is no doctorate program for Nursing Department. One associate professors, three assistant professors from Ordu University and two associate professors from KTU give lessons for this program.
| Qualification Awarded | Graduates who successfully completed all the requirements of the program are awarded the degree of the Master of Science (M.Sc.). | Level of Qualification | Second Cycle | Specific Admission Requirements | 1 - The candidates applying to an MSc programme should; 2 - have graduate diplomas from related Nursing 2- have required scores from the related parts of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) . 3 - Be successful in the examination administered by the Department. | Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) | Prior courses attended by the granted MSc. student in equivalent programmes of other universities or institutes are recognized due to ODU Post-graduate Regulations. | Qualification Requirements and Regulations | The degree is awarded to students who have duccesfully completed a minimum of 21 local credits from thought courses with at least 2.00 out of 4.00. and prepared and defended a thesis. Totally ECTS is 90-120. | Profile of The Programme | The purpose of Master's Degree Program of Nursing Department: specialist nurses who planner, organizer, controller and developer to bring more effective and efficient nursing services; information, skills and advanced technology in the understanding of quality service can be used effectively; can be planned education based on the research findings; can communicate effectively with various sectors of society; can use scientific developments at professional and academic area are trained. | Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples | Nurses are working particulary the departments management/education and clinics of public and private hospitals, relevant departments of the Ministry of Health, nursing department of faculties of health sciences and health schools, family and community health centers, schools, nursing homes and child care centers.
| Access to Further Studies | Students who complete the M.Sc. programme successfully can apply to PhD programmes provided that: They have required scores from the related parts of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). They have the sufficient scores from English Proficiency Tests (UDS, KPDS, TOEFL etc.) (Tests approved by the Inter-university Committee) They are successful in the interview administered by the Department.
| Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading | The examination, assessment and grading regulations have been set up for the university by the University Senate and the Department of Medical Informatics is bound by these regulations. Each course is assessed via a midterm exam, a second mid-term exam composed of quizzes, homeworks and assignments, and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 40% and 60% respectively. The marking is made out of 100. The details given for each course in the programme include the detailed assessment methods together with a description of the second mid-term exam. | Graduation Requirements | The students who have successfully completed a minimum of 21 local credits (equivalant to 60 ECTS credits) from thought courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, achieved a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and prepared and successfully defended a thesis are given Master of Science (M.Sc.) in NURSING.

| Facilities | There are three associate professors, three assistant professors from KTU and ODU conducting teaching and research activities in the program. Students benefit from the social and cultural opportunities in the university. Nursing Department’s educational facilities are as following: there are seven classes (55-60 persons) with computers and projectors and one skills laboratory. There are two adult nursing care skills manikins, CPR manikin, gynecology manikin, manikin for epizyo, pelvic examination and intrauterin device, vaginal examination, newborn care, some organs and bone models for anatomy, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, bascule, aspirator, thorax drainage tube in the skills laboratory. |
