History |
Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition which is in Faculty of Agriculture at Ordu University was founded in 1994. Fall semester has started undergraduate studies 1994-1995 academic year. In this context, this department which is on undergraduate level is the first in Faculty of agriculture. Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition was checked and deemed appropriate the functioning of the organization and regulation by Higher Education General Assembly dated 01/12/2006. Graduate students which are the first have been taken to the department in 2006-2007 spring semester. Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition contain main 9 disciplines such as: Soil Physics, Soil Chemistry, Soil Chemistry and Biochemistry, Soil Mineralogy, Soil fertility, Plant Nutrition, Soil genesis and Classification, Soil Conservation and Soil Survey and Soil Mapping. |

The Master’s Degree in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition(second cycle in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements. |

Another department of the same institute of Ordu University or any other equivalent institution of the other higher education institutions depending on the graduate program who have completed at least one semester, successful students can be admitted through transfer to a graduate program. |

Profile of The Programme |
The Department of Soil Sciences and Plant Nutrition works on the sustainability of soil fertility. In this regard, undergraduate and graduate courses are given. Studies,meetings and seminars are organised for the proper use of agricultural land and good agricultural practices where emphasis is given on right use of fertilizers and nutrient management. |
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples |
Agricultural Engineers are working in public and private sectors. Graduates who have deserved the title of Agricultural Engineer; can work in different institutions such as Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade as a civil servant, provided being successful in the required exams. Hence they will aslo have the rights to work in the private sectors such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, seedling, seedling production, storage, export-import, packaging and marketing companies. They also have the opportunity to work certification issues. They can also work as agricultural consulter and food controller or inspector in bakery ovens etc. |
Access to Further Studies |
Master's degree programs in the transition from the high "Ordu University Education and Examination Regulations" apply the principles. Upon successful completion of Master's degree candidates taking notes from ALES exam and have sufficient English language skills can study in the doctoral program with the condition. |
