Specific Admission Requirements |
High School Diploma and placement through a centralized national university placement examination arranged by OSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center) are required to admit the Faculty of Medicine. |
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
Acknowledgement of the previous formal education, vertical transfers, lateral transfers and transfers within the university are performed within the scope of “REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE TRANSFER IN HIGH EDUCATION ESTABLISHMENTS BETWEEN ASSOCIATE DEGREE AND GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS, DOUBLE MAJOR BRANCHES, LATERAL BRANCHES AND CREDIT TRANSFERS BETWEEN ESTABLISHMENTS” described by the Higher Education Council. Only full-time students are accepted to the faculty, students are not accepted as listeners. For horizontal transfers to the faculty from other medical faculties, the procedures and principles determined by the relevant legislative provisions and Senate decisions are applied. The adaptation of these students to the Faculty's education program is made by the Faculty Board of Directors. Students who are definitely registered for the first semester of the Faculty as a result of the central placement exam may be considered exempt if the equivalence of the program they have previously attended and the courses they have succeeded in, course committees, internships and periods are recommended by the Education Commission and approved by the Faculty Board of Directors. |

Profile of The Programme |
Ordu University Faculty of Medicine continues to grow in parallel with scientific developments in the world. Faculty curriculum is planned to implement the basic requirements for the application of modern medical practice. The main objective of Ordu University Faculty of Medicine is to raise general practitioners who are fully-equipped with knowledge, skills and attitudes to combine his/her medical proficiency with recent developments in science and society for the management of a high-quality medical care in the fight against community health problems; who have the enthusiasm to learn more and perform better; and finally, who are capable of and proficient enough to contribute to scientific development worldwide. |

The title of Doctor of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine graduates of public and private institutions have the opportunity to find a job as a general practitioner. Medical Specialization Examination has an opportunity to continue their education by entering expertise in any field. After this training earn the title of Specialist Physicians. Universities are also relevant areas of the PhD programs Master's degree are eligible to apply. |
Access to Further Studies |
Graduates with the Medical Doctor degree may apply to Doctor of Philosophy programs in the basic medical sciences and Residency Training programs in the internal and surgical medical sciences. |
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Students must attend classes, practices and examinations. Exams, assessment and evaluation are done according to the regulations issued by the University Senate. The first three years of medical education is theoretical, and the last three years are based on internship. In the first three years, practical and theoretical exams are carried out at the end of each committee, as well as final exams at the end of each year. Notes are assessed out of 100. Notes are assessed by taking 60% of end of committee exams, and 40% of final exams. Students need to average at least a 60 out of 100 points at the end of the year to pass. In the fourth and fifth years, an exam is performed at the end of each internship. These practical, and theoretical exams can be conducted as oral, written or both. The student needs to score at least 60 points in end of internship or make-up exams to be considered successful. Period VI covers twelve continuous months. It is done by dividing it into slices determined by the decision of the Faculty Board. The principles of practice are determined according to the intern principles accepted by the Senate. During this period, the student works under the supervision of the instructor in clinics, outpatient clinics, laboratories and field studies. During this period, students are evaluated as pass-fail by the department board according to the grading system, taking into account their performance in outpatient clinics, clinics and field studies of each department they work in, and their participation in scientific meetings. Make-up exams will not be opened to students who cannot achieve the required success in the internships in Term VI. Failed internships are repeated. |
Graduation Requirements |
Successful completion of 360 ECTS credits for a six-year educational period is required for graduation. However, the graduates receive their diploma only after approval by the Ministry of Health following the completion of a two-year obligatory work for the government at a primary health care center. |

Facilities |
Education is given in the Morphology Building settled in the University's Cumhuriyet Campus, and in the 273 bed capacity Ordu University Education and Research Hospital. Morphology building has the physical capacity to satisfy students' needs. Morphology Building consists of a 567 seat conference room, three 240 seat lecture halls, three 50 seat classrooms, 15 multi-disciplinary laboratories, an anatomy laboratory, a library, a dining hall and a cafeteria. |
