Objectives of the Course
This course analyses the main approaches adopted by sociology of migration ranging from industrial to post industrial societies. The course is divided into three parts. The first takes into consideration the different approaches to international migration processes. Macro, micro and medium level theories . The second part anayses migration policies in the world scale, the structure of global labor market and the role played by migrants and conflict between foreigners and local population. The third part of the course focuses on illegal migration processes and the form of social exclusion and margins of societies. Main objectives: - to provide students with an introduction to the sociology of migration - to allow students to acquire a basic knowledge of the major theories of international migration and restructuring global labour market - to provide an opportunity for students to analyse the principal questions and main problems in the labour mability in global and local levels
