Objectives of the Course |
This undergraduate course engages students in the sociological study of delinquency and crime. The main goal of this course is to teach students to use the sociological explanations of delinquency and crime as the conceptual tools in order to understand and analyze the causes of the illegal behavior of youths and adults. Therefore, the successive part of this course will focus on the sociological theories of delinquency and crime. Another goal of this course is to introduce the legal ways in which society attempts to control deviant and criminal behavior through criminal justice system in Turkey. Finally, , special topics such as suicide, honor killing and violence against women will be brought the attention of the students. |
