Objectives of the Course
The purpose of this course is to have the early childhood teacher candidates -understand the importance of nutrition in healthy/normal development and -growth -understand nutrient elements and food groups -understand the importance of the nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding women -understand the disadvantage of bad nutrition -understand problems in child nutrition -develop the skills to plan healthy menus for early childhood period

Course Contents
The definition and importance of nutrition, nutrient elements, food groups, enrichment of foods in terms of nutrient values, nutrition in special cases such as pregnancy and breastfeeding women, disadvantages of bad nutrition, problems in child nutrition, proper nutrition for 0-6 years children, planning menus for early childhood period, hygiene and health principles in food preparation and service.
