Objectives of the Course
Risk, Disaster, and Crisis Management course aims to give the elemental concepts and life cycle assessment of risk, disaster and crises management. The course is oriented to teach the risk and crisis affecting human life, occupational safety, and environment. Also, impact of disaster and crisis on society, economy, and finance will be treated.

5Learn scientific knowledge about crisis, disaster, risk and emergency management

Course Contents
Fundamental concepts of risk, disaster, crisis and emergency management: hazard, emergency, natural disasters (atmospheric, geological, hydrological, seismic, etc.), man-made disasters (technological hazards, dam failure, fire, traffic incidents, hazardous material explosions, nuclear accidents, malicious attacks). Risk analysis, risk management and sustainability. Differences and common points of risk management assessing potential threats and finding the best ways to avoid those threats and crisis management dealing with threats after they have occurred. Model and analyze the impact of crisis, disaster and emergency activities on organizations or society. Four phases of emergency management: preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery. Real examples of unsuccessful and successful applications on risk and crises management.
