Objectives of the Course
It is aimed to teach the medical english terminology, common spoken and written language used in medical articles, dialogues and medical presentations.Students who successfully complete this course will be able to: 1. Have knowledge of basic rules of word construction and vocabulary of the body systems. 2. Read and understand medical documentation in medical records and medical reports in English. 3. Communicate with health care professionals and patients utilizing proper medical terminology. 4. Have the ability to write, read and comprehend the medical articles. 5. Have the ability to translate and evaluate the medical texts, express own thoughts and discuss the treatments by using proper medical terminology.

Course Contents
1. Introduction to Medical English 2. Medical terminology of body compartments and organs 3. Basic sentence structures in English, tenses. 4. Anatomic positions and anatomic terms. 5. Modals, auxillary verbs,inverted sentences,phrases 6. Noun ve relative clauses 7. Complex sentences and conjunctives in English. 8. Analysis and translation of complex sentences. 9. Infectious diseases, hematopoietic system, oncolgic terms and diseases. 10. Respratory and cardiovascular system terminology and diseases. 11. Central and peripheric nervous systems, neurologic and psychiatric diseases. 12. Musculoskeletal system, urogenital system and diseases. 13. Medical terminology in otorhinolaryngology and opthalmology and related diseases. 14.Endocrine system and gastrointestinal system and related diseases. 15. Prep techniques for language exams. 16. Doctor-patient communication, sentence patterns used at patient reception and history taking. 17. System query patterns and directive terms used during physical examination. 18. Documentation of physical findings, explanation of the disease and reassurance of th patient. 19. Explanation of the laboratory findings, proper use of medical documents. 20. Diagnosis and discussion of the diagnosis. 21. Medical and surgical treatments. 22. Hospital departments, medical instruments, hospitalization procedures. 23.Online database use, writing an article: introduction, materials and methods. 24. Abstract analysis, formation of a hypothesis, data collection, survey and abstract writing 25.Data analysis and interpretation, statistical terms. 26. Writing a research article: results discussion and submission of the article. 27. Making a presentation 28. Curriculum vitae writing and application for abroad and medical employement interview.
