Fundamentals of control systems. Measurement and control. Measurement systems. Control devices and sensors. Signal measurement. Amplifiers and noise reduction methods. Engine room control applications. Main engine speed and load control. Auxiliary machines load control and synchronization. Boiler level, combustion and steam pressure measurement and control. Cooling water, lubricating oil, temperature and pressure controls. Separator control systems. Pollution and salinity measurement and control. Tank level control systems. Skavenc air burning control. Propeller and rudder machine controls. Engine room alarm systems. Modeling of control systems. Open loop control system. Closed loop control system. PID control system. Gain settings. The control system input-output relations. Control systems diagrams, transfer functions. Stability. Monitoring of the control elements. Errors and failures. Analog and digital control systems.
