This course targets a thorough understanding of the emergence, development and evolution processes of the physical and mental activities of the mankind distinguished under the categories of game, movement culture and sports throughout history.

Course Contents |
The definition and scope of the physical activities grouped under movement culture, games and sports. Games and Olympiads in the Antiquity. A survey of games played in different parts of the globe in social-historical perspective. The emergence and evolution of gymnastics and physical education in the European culture. The birth of modern sports. Modern Olympiads, sports and physical education in the 20th century.
