Objectives of the Course
This course will explore the multiple definitions of genre that are often at odds with one another. In order to open up such discussions on genre, the course will look at the classical genres that are often mix with other genres, erasing the very boundaries that define them. The course will explore the contemporary American Television show from the perspective of Film and Cultural Studies. Also, it will also focus on the narrative significance of the shows as well as the participation of the fans as co-writers.

1To be able to differentiate the difference between media systems.
2To list the main characteristics of media policies.

6Students will be able to understand the complex role of genre in cinema, television shows and popular culture wıthin the context of film studies.

In this course, film genres will be explored looking through different examples and American tv shows will be evaluated through film and cultural studies theories.
