The aim of the course is • to analyze economic and social structure which are inherited from Ottoman Empire to Republic of Turkey • to analyze Turkeys working classes and labor movements.

Week 3 Republic’s early period labor history debates, Week 4 Republic’s early period of work life and social policies. Week 5 Interpretion of 1936 Labor Law Week 6 Working class conditions at Second World War, evaluating the process with strike and trade union restrictions, meaning of “1946 trade unionism”. Week 7 Evaluating of new era which starts with 1947 Trade Union Law, Analysis of Turkish trade unionism charasteristics. Week 8 Midterm Exam Week 9 Silence years of uprising working class movements; 1950’s. Week 10 1960-1963 transition period; transition of legal structure and struggles of trade unions.
