Objectives of the Course
To overview concept of mental health, importance of mental health in school, definition of normal-abnormal behaviors, reasons for various childhood psychopathologies and adaptation disorders and to increase awareness of students considering child mental health.

Course Contents
Basic concepts of mental health, definition of mental health, normal-abnormal behaviors, main factors affecting mental health, attachment and development of self model, methods used for assessing mental health, definition, diagnostic criteria and causes of psychological disorders and adaptation problems in childhood.

5The importance of family in terms of child's mental health.
6The importance of private familial conditions ( divorce, step mother/father, parent's death etc.) on child's mental health. Aggression, jealousy,
7Child abuse and neglect, traumatic situations.
8Mid-term exam
9Problems encountered during childhood: enuresis, encompresis, communication problems, mutizm, stuttering.
10 Problems encountered during childhood: sucking and nail biting, tic
11 Problems encountered during childhood:Eating disorders
12Problems encountered during childhood: Stealing, lying, agression, jealousy, stubborness.
13Problems encountered during childhood: Fear, anxiety, sleep disorders, ADHD
14Çocukluk döneminde karşılaşılan sorunlar: Severe pediatric mental disorders, general evaluation.
