Objectives of the Course
The objectives of this course are: to present students the mathematical activities of different cultures in the past, to introduce the different phases that mathematics passed in history and how it evolved to its current form, to make students aware of the potential of using the history of mathematics to improve the teaching of mathematics.

1Appreciate the importance of the history of mathematics in mathematics teaching
2Comprehend the Babylonian and Mayan numeration system and perform the basic operations in this system
3Comprehend the Ancient Egypt numeration system and perform the basic operations in this system
4Explain the contribution and the role of the Ancient Egypt mathematics to the formation of modern mathematics.
5Have a substantial knowledge about the works of muslim mathematicians who lived in the Islamic regions in the past
6Explain the contribution and the role of the Ancient Greek mathematics to the formation of modern mathematics.
