Course Contents
This lecture course is designed to give students an overview of the major issues of applied linguistics and also to equip those who later decide to become teachers with the background knowledge necessary for grounding practice in theory. Important topics to be discussed include language and communication, the role of the first laguage acquisition, key issues in second language acquisition, teaching and learning models/theories. The major sub-fields of linguistics are reviewed and their application to language teaching and learning is covered.
