Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to motivate students to understand the theories that support various forms of literary and cultural reading today. It aims to introduce students various theoretical approaches and schools of criticism.

1Understand the basic theoretical concepts underlying contemporary approaches to literature.
2Be aware of the differences in approaches in literary criticism.
3Know key forms and terminology of literary criticism.

5Broaden their perspectives about themselves, others, and the world they inhabit.

Course Contents
The course is designed as a general introduction to literary theory, covering a range of thinkers and issues. Theories discussed will include archetypal, structuralist, post-structuralist, postmodernist, reader-response, psychoanalytic, Marxist, feminist, cultural materialist, queer, and postcolonial theory.
