Objectives of the Course
This course is intended to provide an introduction to basic concepts and issues in Translation Studies and a broad-based foundation for further studies of translation. The aim of this course is to provide an overview of translation studies as a specific area of study with translation theory as a crucial component of this area. Considering the steps and various factors involved in the translation process, the course aims to come to the conclusion that translating is basically decision making.

1To be able to understand the problems and complexities of translation, and the responsibilities of the translator.
2To be able to grasp how the concept of culture functions in the translation process.
3 To be able to prepare and compare translations of literary and non-literary texts and identify the merits and flaws of each translation.
4To be able to approach translated texts with various translation theories.
