Objectives of the Course
This course aims to provide students with an introduction to the field of linguistics - the study of human language, its scientific and systematic foundations. Students will be introduced to linguistic models and theories of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics as well as an exploration of what it is to know a language, both in terms of its structure and use, and how it is that we are able to acquire and produce language.

1The students who complete this course successfully : recall and recount basic concepts and terms related to mental organization of language , human mind and language processing and production
2recognize and define main distinguishing features of human languages
3distinguish and identify the main types of speech sounds and how they are produced, classified and transcribed
4define key terms and fundamental concepts related to modern linguistics and English language

This course is designed to introduce the basic terminology and the background in the scientific study of language. The overall objective of the course is to build up the necessary linguistic notion in the students which will enable them to analyze and describe the universals of language.
