Objectives of the Course
Terrestrial Navigation, has been prepared to give the students necessary knowledge for terrestrial navigation.

Course Contents
The methods used on coastal navigations and determining Line of positions, Introduction to sailings, plane sailings, traverse sailing, parallel sailing, middle latitude sailing, great circle sailing. Solution of plane and mercator sailing problems. Depth and depth measurement devices, Display of depth on the charts, echo sounders, hand lines, Speed and speed measurement devices and calculation speed, speed over water and speed over ground, speed logs, Preparations for sailing and rules in polar waters and iced waters and trapical storms, Current sailing and tides. Use of current and tide tables & charts. Calculate to HW and LW time using tide tables. Calculate to HW and LW soundings using tide tables. Use of American & Admiralty tide tables. Calculate slack water time and speed. Description of all nautical instruments and aids in bridge. The ways of plotting fix position in coastal navigation, using the radar as a navigational aid in coastal navigation. Automatic recorder, receive it, read and store.
