Course Contents
This course examines political developments and social movements in the world and in Turkey in the twentieth century. It introduces concepts, such as imperialism, capitalism, fascism, nationalism and feminism. In general, it studies World War I, the post-war mass culture, 1929 World Economic Crisis, the rise of fascism in Europe, World War II, the Cold War, the independence movements in the colonized countries, modernization and identity issues, the Middle East and its problems, the emergence of ‘the New World Order,’ globalization and environmental problems of the 21st century.
