Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course is • To learn the general information about Organic Chemistry • To give students necessary information about the molecular level understanding of many mechanisms in Organic Chemistry that will help them during their education in the medical faculty and the life of profession • To teach organic functional groups, general reactions, acidity and alkalinity and basic information about isomerism and stereochemistry in Organic Chemistry • To provide the basic knowledge about understanding the structures of bioactive compounds and to enable students develop comments about the adverse effects and reactions • To equip students with the knowledge and skills of following the organic reactions occuring in living body and organic based enzymes that catalyze reactions in our bodies • To introduce the students with the important information on topical issues which intersects the axis of Organic Chemistry and Medicine such as ‘Chemistry of Seeing’, 'Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Cancer', 'Alcohol and Phenol with Biological Importance’ etc.
