Learning Outcomes
Get information about differences between an element and an atom, a compound and a mixture
Write the formulas of various compounds and know their names.
Get information about converting units from one to another, calculating the concentration of a diluted solution from a concentrated solution and calculating the empirical formula of a compound from its mass percentage composition
writin g the electronic configuration of a multi-electron atoms and ions, get information about the general properties of periodic table
Get information about stoichiometric coefficient and mole concept . Find the limiting component of a reaction. Calculate the theoretical and experimental yields of an chemical reaction
Explain the differences between ionic and covalent bonds
Explain how the pressure developed and get information about gase laws
Explain how the enthalpy of vaporization and the boiling point of a compound are related to the strength of its intermolecular forces and explain differencies of structure and properties of molecular solids with ionic, covalent, metalic bonds
Distinguish the liquids that wet or not to wet the glass, calculate the amount of heat received or given during the change of state of matter
Know the basis for the like-dissolves-like rule, how to construct solutions, calculate percent, molarity, normality, molality and mole fraction of solutions. Estimate that the diversity of freezing points, boiling points and vapor pressures of pure solvent and solution.
