Objectives of the Course
To explain nutritional and agronomical characteristics of feedstuffs used by farm animals (small and large ruminants and horses); to explain nutrient requirements for maintenance and production (growth, lactation, gestation, reproduction, and wool/mohair) and environmental condition effects; to demonstrate ration formulation for optimum productivity; to explain nutrient metabolism and metabolic disturbances.

1To have knowledge on feed science, hygene, and technology
2To be able to evaluate hay and silages.
3To be able to prepare ration formulation that meets nutrient demand by farm animals depending upon their physiological stages.
4To be able to evaluate nutritional disorders by cause-effect relationship and environmental condition.
5To provide sustainable production in conjunction with metabolic disorders and infectious diseases as well as production diseases (reproductive system and mammary gland diseases)
6To be able to develop and practice nutritional strategies for food production for public nutrition and health.

2Theoretical: Silages and their usage in ruminant feeding. Practice: Silage making and evaluation.
3Theoretical: Processing methods for concentrate feed and their nutritional evaluation. Practice: Concentrate feed procession techniques.
4Theoretical: Fresh cow nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for early lactating cows.
5Theoretical: Mid- and late lactating cow nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for lactating cows
6Theoretical: Dry cow and heifer nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for lactating cows
7Theoretical: Clinical nutrition and feed additives. Practice: Ration preparation for lactating cows
8Midterm exam
9Theoretical: Clinical nutrition and feed additives. Practice: Ration preparation for dry and prefresh cows.
10Theoretical: Nutrition and reproduction. Practice: Ration preparation for ill cows.
11Theoretical: Milk composition and factors affecting milk quality. Dietary modulation of milk composition. Practice: Ration preparation for ill cows
12Theoretical: Nutrition and environment. Practice: Ration preparation for distressed cows.
13Theoretical: Beef nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for beef.
14Theoretical: Small ruminant nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for sheep and goats.
15Theoretical: Equine and swine nutrition and feeding. Practice: Ration preparation for horses and pigs.
